I Can Do This! Conquering the Last Days of School

As the school year draws to a close, excitement runs high, but so can anxiety. With just nine days left in the academic calendar, I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to a much needed summer break.

Acknowledge the Challenge

Although there is some level of anticipation there is also the feeling of wanting to finish strong by wrapping up any loose ends. For me, this is making sure I've issued all necessary assessments, homework assignments, and lessons. It also means collecting text books and other materials distributed at the beginning of the school year. I must also bolster up enough energy to attend several graduation ceremonies, banquet dinners, and end of year professional development.

Looking ahead

Just as much as I look forward to the ending of one school year, around the end of July I begin to plan for the next. Mental preparation takes place moreso than any physical planning. I begin thinking about course content. school supply deals, and sizing up my professional wardrobe.

This upcoming school year will look different for several reasons, and there is a level of uncertainty that goes with it. However, I am remaining both prayerful and hopeful in the journey.

Some advice to my fellow educators?

Dig deep, stay focused, and move ahead with self-assurance. The finish line is just around the corner, and with effort, you'll close this school year on a high note. Remember, every ending opens the door to new opportunities, and countless possibilities await you in the future.
